• Basic and Fundamental Research on Nuclear Energy
Our task in the field of basic and fundamental research on nuclear energy is, to develop the advanced methods of non-destructive assay which enables us to "quantify the amount of nuclear materials without dissolving". By developing sophisticated measurement methods of radiation such as the neutron and gamma ray, we invented a method which enables to accurately quantify the amount of nuclear materials in nuclear fuel debris, to which conventional methods cannot be applied. Working on these tasks with cutting-edge apparatus, our creativity can be fully utilized to invent new technologies.

  • Spin-off: medical
We strive to provide our advanced radiation-measurement techniques as the foundation of safe and reliable medical radiation treatment. From advanced diagnosis methods to next-generation cancer-treatments, our creativity is challenged to find innovative application of radiation technology to those fields.

  • Spin-off: fundamental science
The fields of application of our advanced radiation measurement techniques are not limited to the research on nuclear energy; they can equally be applied to unlock the secrets of the Earth and the cosmos. We are also doing such scientific study to explore hidden nature. These include e.g. the mechanism of radiation emission caused by lightning.

The aim of the Research Group for Nuclear Sensing is to develop advanced non-destructive assay technologies, to “analyze and quantify the contents of interest without dissolution.”

The fields of application of our sophisticated radiation measurement techniques are not limited to nuclear technologies; they can also be applied to a variety of other fields such as medical, astronomical, and Earth sciences.

We use our advanced radiation measurement techniques to explore the science for the next-generation, in a vast range of fields, from fundamental to applied!
