Utilizing multiple measurement methods:an Integrated NDA system

As the spent nuclear fuels are themselves highly radioactive, it is thought that the non-destructive assay of nuclear materials contained therein, such as Uranium and Plutonium, is extremely difficult.

To overcome this difficulty by combining the three advanced NDA methods (Fig. 1), we have designed and constructed an integrated NDA system named "NuS-Active-N" (Figs. 2 and 3), for the first time in the world.  With this system, the amount of nuclear materials as well as their isotopic ratios can be non-destructively deduced even under high radiation dose.

Differential Die-away Analysis(DDA)
Neutron Resonance Transmission Analysis(NRTA)
Prompt Gamma-ray Analysis(PGA)

With the help of now emerging AI technologies, the breadth as well as depth of the information deduced from the results of measurements is expected to be enlarged.  In this field of research and developments, there still lies many unresolved difficulties: it is your creative thinking and insatiable curiosity to achieve breakthroughs in this field.
